So much fuzz about nothing really... Well, i didn't have the chance to visit the Anime Fest this year but lemme ask one thing: did our cosplayers face same problems in Latvia too..? Like the language issues you're now arguing about? I am more than sure they did. That's the thing one should be aware of while taking part in conventions abroad I guess. and should be ready for that. After all, such events are more meant for the locals and I am sure the staff really did their best.

Also the main language of the event was russian and I'm pretty sure that there are much more lithuanian cosplayers who understand this language than there are latvian who understand lithuanian...👍 2Comment

Comment

Kuroi, there's a simple solution to all Latvians' problems.
BEFRIEND A LITHUANIAN.
Easy as that. Lithuanian guys are really nice and polite people. They're not gonna tell your costume isn't original or isn't pretty and won't bite you.
They would tell you all you want to know either in English or Russian. Some of my friends are good at Russian, meanwhile I suck in it but I speak good English. Shaka has a point in saying that the event is for locals and abroad convention brings language barriers but that's natural. But if there's a desire, there's solution.

Ok I read the conversation and wanted to say my opinion aboutthis situation. First of all I remember that last year the order of aplicants were anounced in englesh so what heppend? It's a big disappointment to read that lithuanians are so inconsiderable.
About Anime Fest event. Yes most of the time everybody talked russian but oh camon most of lithuanians could understan what was hapening. Personaly I can speak only english but that was't problem for me. YesI was disappointed to see same performances that participated in anime fest but oh well. I was angry at first but most of the judges were lithuanians so wath's the problem? If you want to be so inconsiderable don't invite other countries. Yes there were mistakes in both events but try to learn from it and next year try to make that nobady could say that it was bad. Be proud and say thankyou for latvians that they came and don't take this so personally.👍 5Comment

Šiek tiek nuotraukų
Ouch what a hot topic I agree to the idea of some written information on the screen about who's next, especially because not always it is clear from loudspeakers what is being said - B or D, etc. And all would understand what small D06 in the corner means ;].

Well it is much more fun with Latvian guys around, but I most certainly have other words to tell them, not "oh mighty Latvian friends the only ones with super original super pretty costumes thank you for spending your highly valued time to attend our miserable event; we're proud to have you here because we're grey mouses, unoriginal and we suck so bad that only your presence can improve everything" >.> Don't take this personally too, but I'm really pissed about it. Ever since foreign guests showed up, something has gone terribly wrong with NowJapan and it needs to be done something about. The language problem was the only one you should have had in our event because everywhere else you were VIPs all the time.
Don't take me as intolerant foreigner-hating bitch, because I am not; but am I not right, even a tiniest bit?👍 4Comment

They have a damn extra experience of 5 years of cosplay. They naturally have more knowledge about acting on stage, performances, and work with materials. That's to be expected. Well maybe experience isn't the point that I should keep stressing, but how else do we explain the magic of them swiping our first places all the time?👍 1Comment

><Minimalus parašo aukštis 130👍 1Comment

First of: Lithuania -> Kaunas -> Garliavinė yay ^-^
So many opinions here, but I want to ask Abram. I know you chose the example and everything else. But you chose wrongly, because Naruto is a hyper active character. It's easy and fun to play and notice active characters, but what a person should do if one cosplays a shy or not very active character? If your character is only huge and powerful and always in a bad mood, but never breaks anything? What if your character just stands in one place and doesn't do anything? How do you judge that kind of character? Of course, most will say "don't cosplay it then!". But what if I want to cosplay that character because it has wonderful clothes, maybe awesome weapon, but is always standing in the shadows, does nothing cool nor exciting and almost never speaks one's mind? How to judge that kind of character?
However, I'm here to be yet another mortal requesting more than one day cosplay! Be it a month of cosplay as long as we have enough time to take pictures with ALL cosplayers. I mean, you run around taking pictures. You have merely two hours. The cosplayers were angry and tired (and some wanted to be murdered after the event) and didn't want to take pictures. It doesn't feel good to force someone to take a picture with you. You are not happy yourself, because you do all you can to find a character, request for a picture and get the angry replay. Now that I think about it, those who run around taking pictures are probably the most tired of them all...
So all in all: more time, more activities and explain us how you judge. It's nowJapan, the biggest event, after all.👍 6Comment
