Open Letter to Our Lithuanian Friends

Sulaukėme daug klausimų, kodėl "UniCon" neorganizavo autobuso į "nowJapan" ir kodėl nebendradarbiavome su šiuo festivaliu. Visų pirma, mes susisiekėme su "nowJapan" organizatoriais pusė metų prieš pirmąjį "UniCon" renginį, tačiau, dabar, po apsilankymo "nowJapan" festivalyje, mes galima pagrįstai ir aiškiai išvardinti priežastis, kodėl mes atsisakėme bendradarbiavimo su "nowJapn".

1. "nowJapan" organizatorių naudojami veiksmai neatitinka "UniCon" palaikomos draugystės politikos, be to labai su ja prasilenkia.
2."NJ" organizatorių požiūris į cosplay konkursų dalyvius, tiek repeticijų, tiek paties festivalio metu, neatitinka "UniCon" standartų.
3. "NJ" organizatorių kainodaros politika yra neaiški ir nepriimtina.
4. "NJ" organizatorių veiksmai ir požiūris į savo partnerius ir padejėjus, remiantis "UniCon" nuomone, yra neteisingi ir nesąžiningi.
5. Nėra jokios aiškios ir tikslios informacijos apie festivalį užsienio kalbomis, o jeigu ji ir atsiranda, tai tik kelios dienos prieš patį renginį.

Mes nebesigilinsime į smulkmenas, bet norėtumėme atkreipti jūsų dėmesį į tai, kad apie 10 Latvijos cosplayer'ių, šiemet atvykusių į "nowJapan", protestuodami prieš "NJ" organizatorių nustatytas taisykles, atsisakė dalyvauti cosplay konkursuose. Tai nereiškia, kad "UniCon" atisako bendradarbiauti su savo draugais iš Lietuvos. Priešingai - šiuo momentu mes organizuojame kelis bendrus projektus su Lietuva ir svarstome naujus bendradarbiavimo planus. Tačiau bendradarbiavimas su "NJ" dabartinėmis aplinkybėmis yra neįmanomas.

A lot of people have asked "UniCon" why we wouldn't organize a bus to "nowJapan" or why we aren't in any other way collaborating with the festival. First of all, we did contact "nowJapan" organizers half a year before the first "UniCon", but now, after having attended the festival we can clearly explain the main points of why we consciously rejected collaborating with them.

1. Actions and policy implemented by the organizers of "NJ" in no way match the policy of friendship of "UniCon", and are greatly out of tune with it.
2. "NJ" organizers' attitude towards the participants of cosplay contests, both during rehearsals and during the festival itself doesn't meet the standarts of "UniCon".
3. "NJ" organizers' pricing policy is unclear and unacceptable.
4. "NJ" organizers' actions and attitude towards their own partners and assistants, in the opinion of "UniCon", are neither fair nor honest.
5. Availability of information about the event and its translations are almost completely non-existent, and, even if they appear, then it happens a couple of days before the event.

We do not wish to go further into detail, but we would like to note that about ten cosplayers from Latvia, having arrived at "NJ" this year, in protest of the policy implemented by "NJ" organizers, refused to perform in the cosplay competition. This does not mean that "UniCon" is refusing to cooperate with our Lithuanian friends. On the contrary, at the moment we are implementing a few collaborative projects together with Lithuania and are considering new areas of cooperation. However cooperating with "NJ", the way it is now, is impossible.
